Will I lose my home if I file for bankruptcy?

In most cases, you will not lose your home when you file for bankruptcy. To keep your home in a bankruptcy, you must be current with your mortgage payments and agree to honor the mortgage loan(s) on the home after the bankruptcy. If you do this, you will, by law, be able to keep your home. If you are behind on your mortgage payments, you will be able to keep your home in a Chapter 13 Bankruptcy provided you make all of your payment plan payments.
